Poll Question - How many different networks do you have in your facility? How many different networks do you have in your facility?
We seem to have a communications standards theme to this week's e-newsletter. Our featured article is about a new Ethernet-based communications standard for power generation systems. Our Automation Cartoon stems from the article and jokes about having to add yet another communications network to the plant. Even the Dilbert strip pokes fun at industry standards.

Given the large number of communication and IO networks available today, we decided to conduct a quick poll of our subscribers about the number of different communication networks they have implemented in their factories and plants. The list of available networks includes, but is not limited to: Foundation Fieldbus, ControlNet, PROFIBUS, Interbus, AS-Interface, CanOpen, CC-Link, PROFINET, HART, Ethernet, EtherCAT, Ethernet Powerlink, SERCOS, Modbus, LonWorks and DeviceNet.

Take our poll and let us know how many different networks you have in your facility. The answers are tallied in real-time so you can see the results as soon as you submit your answer.

I look forward to seeing the results!
